CUSD students desire, require and deserve diverse opportunities and a well-rounded education. The students of today comprise the workforce of tomorrow. Every educational opportunity our schools can provide will better equip our students to become productive citizens in the future.

CUSD schools are under-funded and therefore unable to provide key programs without private support. California ranks 47th out of the 50 United States in per-pupil funding for public education. Tax dollars, alone, are not enough to best prepare our students for the world and workforce they will enter.
Our community needs you.
Having a world-class school system is critical to the economic health of our community. Carlsbad corporations must be able to recruit and retain highly qualified workers. Their ability to do so is most definitely impacted by the quality of our local school system. By enriching the public education experience, CEF helps local businesses to attract and retain the best and brightest employees and thereby strengthens our local economy.
The current economic reality in California does not suggest an increase in funding for education any time soon. As a result, CEF’s biggest challenge is continually generating funds to provide key programs and resources for our students. We meet that challenge head on by working hard to develop diverse and sustainable funding sources, both earned and contributed.
In fact, revenues generated by our programs like Kids’ Care and Summer Enrichment allow us to cover the operating costs of the foundation so that every dollar donors give to the foundation can go to support local programs for students.
