CARLSBAD ---- Third-graders in Carlsbad will get two daylong trips to the Agua Hedionda Lagoon this school year thanks to a grant from the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation.

The foundation has teamed up with the Carlsbad Educational Foundation for the "Third Grade Academy for Environmental Stewardship," for more than 800 students in the Carlsbad Unified School District.

The Carlsbad Charitable Foundation has given the educational foundation $30,000 to support the program, which promotes environmental education and conservation.

Students will get hands-on lessons about responsible interaction with nature and learn about the impact people have on it.
