CARLSBAD — Children looking for
something to do this summer can choose from more than two dozen
enrichment classes offered by the Carlsbad Educational Foundation.
The foundation is offering courses from June 28 through July 23. The
27 half-day enrichment classes, which run for one week each, are
tailored for elementary and middle-school students. They include a
variety of programs in science, music and the arts.
Among the classes to be offered are an American Idol-style singing
competition, a robotics class, a junior detectives class, a writing
course, a science and technology inventions class and a kindergarten
preparatory class.
The classes are open to families living in Carlsbad and neighboring
communities, and they will take place at Jefferson Elementary School at
3743 Jefferson St. The classes can be combined with the foundation’s
full-day Kids’ Care child care program.
Tuition for all but one class is $120, not including supplies. The cost of the inventions class is $250.
Enrollment is now open and runs through the spring. Brochures with
more details, complete class descriptions and a registration form are
available at each Carlsbad public school or can be downloaded at CarlsbadEd.org.
