CEF Announces Annual “Celebrate Carlsbad Day” at LEGOLAND

Carlsbad Educational Foundation Announces Annual ‘Celebrate Carlsbad Day’ at LEGOLAND®

Celebration to be held at LEGOLAND ® California on Saturday, May 14

Carlsbad, Calif. – See the new STAR WARS™ Miniland and the new LEGO® Hero Factory at the eighth annual “Celebrate Carlsbad Day” at LEGOLAND California, to be held Saturday, May 14th in support of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation.

This yearly “pep rally for education” offers an opportunity to highlight the importance of a strong, local educational system and an appreciation for what it means to live and work in and around Carlsbad.

Specially priced $20 “Celebrate Carlsbad Day” tickets include admission to LEGOLAND beginning at 1:00 p.m., extended park hours and a special fireworks display at 8:15 p.m. Student performances will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., interspersed with recognition of local dignitaries and corporate donors. The proceedings will be taped before a live audience on the LEGOLAND Fun Town Stage as part of this year’s Kids Are Worth A Million™ telecast.

LEGOLAND will donate a portion of the proceeds from the event to the Carlsbad Educational Foundation in support of weekly music instruction for every elementary school student in the Carlsbad Unified School District throughout the school year, which the Foundation committed to funding in 2009.

“We are grateful for our special partnership with LEGOLAND California,” said Valin Brown, chief executive officer of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation. “Since LEGOLAND opened its gates in Carlsbad in 1999, this award-winning family venue has consistently embraced the Foundation’s efforts to raise much-needed funds for the Carlsbad schools, from computer labs to district-wide music education. LEGOLAND’s commitment to education and their partnership with the Foundation has made a tremendous impact on our community and we couldn’t be more appreciative.”

The event provides a unique opportunity for CUSD students to perform at a special venue and the Foundation to recognize its partnership with LEGOLAND and the support of its corporate donors, all in front of a live audience. “Celebrate Carlsbad Day” offers an incredible opportunity for the general public to visit LEGOLAND at a fraction of the normal cost on this special day.

Major donors to the event include LEGOLAND® California, Barnhart Balfour Beatty, Life Technologies, McCarthy Construction, Gafcon, Sunwest Bank, Toyota Carlsbad, Tri City Medical Center, The Lund Team, Hoehn Motors and Team Van Siclin – Homelife Village Realtors.

“Here at LEGOLAND California, we believe strongly in the value of education and supporting our local community,” said Peter Ronchetti, general manager of LEGOLAND California Resort. “We are absolutely thrilled to host the annual “Celebrate Carlsbad Day” and support the efforts of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation to raise funds for our local schools.”
