October is upon us and that means it is time for the 12th Annual Carlsbad Golf Classic benefiting the Carlsbad Educational Foundation at The Crossings. This year’s tournament takes place on Friday, October 19th with registration at 10:30 a.m. and shotgun start at noon. As an avid golfer, charitable tournaments are one of my favorite activities as it allows you to connect with the community while enjoying a day out of the office. But most exciting and new this year – you could go home $5,000 richer!

The Carlsbad Educational Foundation is putting a new spin on this year’s tournament by adding a “Chopper Dropper” Ball Drop before tournament play begins. For $20, education supporters (anywhere, not just Carlsbad as you don’t have to be present to win!)  can purchase a ball(s) for their chance at $5,000. Numbered golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter and the ball going in the designated hole (or closest to the pin) will walk away with $5,000. The best part – only 500 balls will be sold, so the odds are in your favor!

Another unique feature is the chance to win an exclusive experience at The Kingdom at TaylorMade adidas Golf. Now, I am not just saying good things about this because I work for TaylorMade! Honestly, this is an amazing opportunity that is normally reserved for tour staff professionals and VIP guests only. The Kingdom opportunity will allow one lucky winner one-on-one personalized fitting with TaylorMade’s certified clubfitters, a personal MATT system analysis report featuring your swing captured in precise state of the art computer animation AND a FULL SET of TaylorMade clubs precision built to your personal specifications.

If that was not enough incentive to get you out to the course for the day, we hope you will join us for wine tasting, dinner, awards and the silent and live auction as it is sure to be a great time. The most important thing to remember is that the money raised from this year’s event goes directly to funding programs for over 11,000 Carlsbad students.

Tournaments in years past have helped raise over $100,000 for educational programs, and we are confident we can do it again this year, but we need your help!  If you have not already done so, register your team, become a sponsor and take your chances on our opportunity drawings. The event will sell out, so don’t miss your chance to make a difference in our community.
